An important cause. Tai Shan is an American panda, born free on American soil and should under no circumstances be sent back to live under the PRC's repression.

Upon return to the Mainland, word is the CP will, as part of his reeducation, change Tai Shan's name to Trans Phat, which means "Margarine" in Mandarin. On the upside, he will be reunited with his long lost brother, Mi So Gud (MSG for short), who was until recently the spokespanda for the restaurant chain "Panda Express."

What is this, some kind of neocon fearmongering against China? Nick Kristof informs me that "China is much freer than its rulers would like."
Maybe you should think of Tai Shan as if he were Elian Gonzalez, and going back to his homeland would just bring him closer to paradise.

Bleh, I do not get the panda hype. But if the exile of said infant (well, now I guess he's prolly a toddler) panda to China means we're in for another round of panda sex hysteria in the near future, then I'm all for keeping it here.

I dunno. My personal view is that pandas are deadly dull, and I seriously wonder what's wrong with people who like them. When I was in China, I ate some panda meat, and it was tasty. But I really am against strengthening the tyranny of the totalitarian Chinese state, so let's keep the panda if we need it.

What we need is a crew of plucky teens - hopefully a little rough around the edges, but good at heart, probably from a local community center - to rescue Butterstick from the clutches of the evil Chi-Coms.

On behalf of Pittsburgh, I offer the use of the new elephant ranch in Somerset County as a safehouse for the panda, should you choose to spring him.

I'm with the commies on this one; Pandas belong in China and on South Park, not in your decadent Western "Zoos" and Preserves.

Yea, I am another guy who went out with Eve Fairbanks during her during her story research.
