Air Conditioning

Republicans must really like to be cold or something, or else it's hard to understand why they'd be air conditioning this place with a system that must be using enough energy to launch a manned mission to Mars. Outside, meanwhile, it's so hot and humid that I can only pray for colleagues left behind in DC.

You gotta keep it cold to stay awake, especially after all-night parties.

You're feeling the Bush administration's chilling effect on dissenting voices.

The metrodome is 65 degrees before the start of football games, and the fans warm it up with body heat.

So the convention halls are not too cold, the attendees are cold fish.

"No pleasure, no rapture, no exquisite sin greater than central air." -- Azrael in "Dogma"

Isn't it obvious? The GOP is a bunch of demons.

Compared to South Cackallacky, DC reminds me of arctic climes.

Your prayers are appreciated.

Republicans must really like to be cold or something...

Republican speeches require extreme measures to keep the audience awake.

Pray? You? Man, you've been around Republicans, all right. (Note: Democrats are religious, too - this is just the best attempt at humor I can come up with on short notice.)

Um, Matt, didn't you blog over on TAPPED about how they were all in business suits and ties? Think: thermal properties of wool and silk.

This may have something to do with the prevalence of Texans in the GOP. As a Texan, I can honestly say that even the environmentally minded among us do enjoy the freezing inside, deathly hot and humid outside contrast in our daily lives. At least, that's the case for Houstonians...here in Austin it's a little less conspicuous.

As much as I hate the RNC and such, I really can't abide anyone in NYC on this particular day who is *COMPLAINING* about having air conditioning. It is really hot. And there is not air conditioning where I am.
