Pollack Interview

Take a look at my interview with Kenneth Pollack on the Prospect website. It's all about handling Iran -- why a diplomatic solution could work if the relevant people were willing to try, why a counterproliferation (i.e., air strikes) option is likely to fail, and while regime change, though welcome, probably isn't something we can do much to speed along.

Pollack: "Because I think they [the Bush administration] are realistic enough to recognize that our ability to effect regime change in Iran is extremely limited."

One would certainly hope so, but ... realistic? Anyone care to bet the farm on that?

Imagine if cats could drive. You'd be all like 'Dude, there's a cat driving that Jeep', and I'd be all like, 'Sweet'.

P.S. My teeth hurt.

Good interview, but why so short? BTW, I'm coming to appreciate the Pollack book more, but I wish he had spent more time on rebutting other arguments than on Iranian history. I don't think he made as forceful a case as he could have.

which would allow them to go back to the kind of aggressive anti-American foreign policy we saw in the 1990s...and all that really nasty stuff that made the Middle East a very unstable place.

Hmmm....in comparison, of course, to the stable oasis of peace and prosperity that is now the Middle East?
